Raleigh Real Estate

In 1907, the heirs of William Montfort Boylan sold his mansion, Montfort Hall, and the surrounding one hundred and eighty acres to the Greater Raleigh Land Company. The land was slated for subdivision marking the birth to one of Raleigh’s first 20th century suburban neighborhoods, Boylan Heights. The neighborhood is loosely bounded by W. Morgan St. to the north, Florence St. and DuPont Circle to the east, Dorothea Dr. to the south and CSX railway to the west. The neighborhoods location, just southwest of down town, provides a sweeping view of the Raleigh Skyline. The residence of the Boylan Heights neighborhood share a strong communal bond highlighted through their annual events.

Most of the Boylan Heights homes were built between 1910 and 1920. The architectural styles include Colonial Box and Queen Anne/Colonial hybrids but the one-story wood frame bungalow is the dominant design. If you were to take the winding drive through Boylan Heights you’d notice the heritage of the original owner through personal touches evident in each design. If you’d like more information on Boylan Heights you should check out the neighborhood association website.
