This post is a bit redundant but serves an explanatory purpose. In Raleigh the terms Oakwood and Historic Oakwood are used interchangeably. However, there is portion of Oakwood; the south east portion which is not included within the historic charter. The approximate boarder is from Watauga St west to Tarboro St east and then from Oakwood Ave on the northern boarded to Edenton St. south. So while all of Historic Oakwood is “historic” not all of Oakwood is “historic.” These days the portion of this neighborhood could be referred to as transitioning while renovations of the urban pioneers push onward. If you’d like some more information or clarification about this neighborhood please give me a call.
